20 Things They Should've Told You About College.

ACADEMICS

  • Its okay to be unsure of what you want to do as a newly admitted freshman ( or anytime in your college career).
  • You will change your major or at least reconsider, and that is perfectly okay.
  • You may absolutely HATE the school you're accepted into. My word of advice TRANSFER! Don't waste time somewhere you aren't happy at.
  • Focus on quality of learning rather than just passing the class.
  • Your grades are a reflection of your work ethic.
  • BUT some professors are impossible so speak up & seek help. If you feel you're not getting the marks you deserve.
  • Set personal academic goals, write them down and work toward them.
  • You're now the small fish in a big pond so find your strengths and master them.

FASHION

  • Heels, you thought you'd wear them everyday, think again! While heels may make you feel like the grown and sexy college sophisticate you are sport them only on shorter class days.
  • Wear what you feel the most comfortable in, physically and emotionally, you'll radiate a cool relaxed vibe that will attract the people meant for you.
  • Keep the line thick between the  clothes you brought for class and those for partying.
  • Dress as if you're a professional already. Some professor will take notice & that may be a well needed connection in the future.
  • You will wear your pjs to class at least once, so ones that transitional well are a must.
BOYS/GIRLS/SEX&RELATIONSHIPS

  • If you are in a relationship while in college don't let that hold you back from being social and meeting new people.
  • If you're looking to start a relationship while in college join a club or group that you're interested in, find someone who shares your interests.
  • College students can be very superficial, so be prepared to build a thick skin, don't take dating too seriously, HAVE FUN.
  • Some of your peers may be into drugs and random hook ups. If thats not your cup of tea, as cliche as it sounds, don't fall into peer pressure, its dangerous and you'll most likely regret it.
  • BE SAFE SEXUALLY.
  • If you do feel uncomfortable about anything sexually related with a roommate or floor mate speak with your RA or counselor.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
NEVER LET YOUR OWN OR ANYONE ELSE'S DOUBT HOLD YOU BACK. YOU'RE ONLY AS STRONG, AS SMART, AND AS DRIVEN AS YOU ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE.
